Frequently asked by Stanmore parents

Where exactly in Stanmore do you train?

At Avanti House School on Wemborough Road, HA7 2EQ — our main venue, running sessions every Tuesday and Friday.

Do you also have a second venue?

Yes — a second venue at Grahame Park Way, Colindale, running every Wednesday, for families in that area.

Can we try a session before committing?

Yes — every new player gets one FREE TASTER SESSION, with no obligation to continue.

Do you train at Avanti House all year round?

Our Stanmore sessions run through the season on Tuesdays and Fridays. During school holidays timings can shift, and we always let parents know well in advance.

What a session looks like

Because Stanmore is our main base, most of our age groups train here — so your child will see the same coaches and the same faces every week.

The first fifteen minutes are a warm-up with a ball at their feet — no standing around waiting for something to start. The next half hour is technical work on one thing: first touch, passing, finishing, one-v-one. Then small-sided games where that skill has to hold up under pressure, and a proper match to finish.

Before they leave, every child hears one thing they did well and one thing to work on. It takes thirty seconds and it's the part they remember on the drive home.

Parents are welcome to stay and watch. Most Stanmore families do for the first few weeks, and we'd rather you did.

Starting out in Stanmore

If your child isn't playing anywhere yet, Stanmore Recreation Ground and Canons Park are good places to start — free, open, and no pressure. A lot of what makes a young footballer is built in exactly that kind of unstructured play.

The point at which a club starts to help is when they begin asking questions you can't answer. Why does the ball keep going over the bar? How do I get past someone quicker than me? That's when they need repetition, structure, and someone watching properly. For some children that's at seven, for others it's at eleven. There's no right age.

Stanmore is home. Avanti House School is our main base, and it's where most of our squads train twice a week.

What it costs, and what's included

Fees depend on how many sessions your child attends, and there's a discount for families with more than one child at the club. We also hold places for families facing financial difficulty — ask, and it stays between us.

All coaching equipment, balls and bibs are provided. Your child needs boots or trainers, shin pads and a water bottle, and nothing else. There's no club kit to buy before they start.

The first session is free, and there's no obligation after it.

Nearby areas we also serve

Families travel to our sessions from right across North West London. If you're closer to Edgware, Harrow or Queensbury, those pages cover the journey and venue details from there.
